The IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII traces its lineage to the Mark 11, the British Royal Air Force's instrument watch of the late 1940s, built with one purpose: to be read instantly and trusted completely at altitude. The 40mm stainless steel case at 11mm thin carries a silver-plated dial with large rounded Arabic numerals, luminescent white hands with bold black outlines, a white navigation triangle at 12, and nothing else. Not a single element exists for decoration. The soft-iron inner case protects against magnetic interference, the front glass is secured against displacement from sudden drops in air pressure, and calibre 35111 powers it automatically at 28,800 vph with 42 hours of power reserve. The caseback carries an engraving of the Junkers JU.52, the aircraft that defined a generation of aviation. 2019 production, impeccable condition, still under warranty, complete set included. A pilot's watch that wears its history without theatre.
