The Omega Speedmaster 3573.50.00, the Sapphire Sandwich, fits sapphire crystals on both the front and caseback, giving an unobstructed view of calibre 1863 in both directions. That movement is the reason this reference exists: a direct descendant of the calibre that rode to the moon on Apollo astronauts' wrists, hand-wound, rhodium-plated, 48 hours of power reserve, no Co-Axial escapement, no silicon, no modern intervention. Just the mechanism, the craft, and the history. The 42mm steel case carries the black dial with engine-turned subdials, tachymetric bezel, and luminescent baton hands in exactly the configuration NASA approved in 1965 and has never needed to substantially revise. On the bracelet with alternating brushed and polished links, it wears with a presence that twenty years have only deepened. 2004 production, impeccable condition, complete set, bracelet fitted for a 7.5 inch wrist. A Moonwatch with a caseback worth looking at is a rarer thing than most people realize.
